Felt Like Cappin – 2 Chainz (Mixtape)

2 Chainz is known for his insouciant attitude, so it shouldn’t come as surprise that he delivered this 6-track project solely because he felt like it. His last project, Trapavelli Tre, was targeted towards the hustlers and hookers living in the trap. This is more smoking music than strip club anthems, and I think our fans will be feeling this project much more than his last.

The title track sets the tone for the rest of the tape as a finger picked bass line rides underneath the expertly produced instrumentals. The lineup of ATL-based musicians on this project is impressive, and these beats were clearly crafted especially for this purpose. Moreover, Titty Boi’s hooks and verses are much more refined on this little EP than they were on his third Trapavelli installment. It’s as if he put more time into perfecting this nonchalant 6-track sampler than his full-length mixtape that featured the likes of Wiz, Cap 1, and Kevin Gates.

All in all, this project bumps. If you’re looking for some rowdy turn up and smoke out anthems, look no further. I was feeling Felt Like Cappin and MF’n Right, but check it out and see what you think. As always, follow Chainz on Twitter and SC if you’re vibing to his new ish.

Watch Out – 2 Chainz (Curren$y Remix)

Well we didn’t see this coming, but Curren$y has never been one to release his material in the same label-directed manner as his competitors. For this act, we got a taste of what Spitta can do on some foreign production. Whereas usually when we think of Curren$y we imagine his jazzy Jet Life branded production and smoked out low riders over smooth flows, but his rendition of Titty Boi’s “Watchout” falls far from his usual sound. The trap inspired instrumental, complete with its resounding bass and repetitive melody, definitely doesn’t seem like the type of song that Curren$y would hop on, but rest assured: he kills it. His distinct voice is the perfect contrast to the production’s unadorned sound, and although the track is only a short 2 and a half minutes he manages to squeeze out a few quotable bars and the promise of a future project ‘Canal Street Confidential’ coming out next week. Without a doubt, Curren$y is one of my favorite rappers; the imagery he uses is insane, and every time I hit play on a new release I’m satisfied with the result, regardless of who’s behind his production or who’s being featured. Give Curren$y a shoutout on Twitter and some love on Soundcloud if you like what you hear.

BFF – 2 Chainz & Jeezy

I’m a little late on this one, but it’s not the strongest track in 2 Chainz and Young Jeezy’s portfolios anyways. ‘BFF’ refers to a rapper’s real best friend: dolla’ bills. Although the song has all of the ingredients to be a banger — Zaytoven on the beat, 2 Chainz and Jeezy behind the mic, and money on their minds — the overall result was disappointing. The ATL production fell short of Zaytoven’s usual work; the bass wasn’t knocking, and the arpeggiated piano chords were as weak as Titty Boi’s verse. That being said, Jeezy killed his half of the song, and the hook from 2 Chainz is hype. Although the lyrics are shallow, there’s always a time and place for trap music. If you find yourself drunk in the strip club at 2AM and this song comes on you’ll be able to say you heard it here first, so you’re welcome. Cop the free download and follow 2 Chainz and Jeezy on Soundcloud if you want to show some support.

Pipe It Up – Migos, 2 Chainz, & Young Jeezy

The true test of fame is the challenge of making a word, phrase, or acronym go viral. Many have done it in the past; Drake started the YOLO apocalypse of 2011, Lil Jon started the “Turn Down For What” movement, and thanks to 2 Chainz none of us can say the number “two” without thinking of the notorious rapper’s add lib. That being said, Pipe It Up has no meaning whatsoever, but it’s the Migos crew’s attempt at creating their own colloquial term. The Murdah beat instrumental is perfect for this trio to lay down a few hypey verses over, and the addition of Titty Boi and Young Jeezy give the song the mainstream kick it needs to get the club yelling “Pipe It Up” as a replacement for “Turn Up”. If you like Migos, you’ll love this track, cop the free DL and throw them a follow on twitter and soundcloud.

No Days Off – 2 Chainz

Yezzir, with Zaytoven and 2 Chainz in the mix you already know how hot this ATL-branded single is going to be. If there was a song for you to flick your wrist to it would probably be Flicka Da Wrist by Chedda Tha Connect, but if you need an all inclusive “trappin” anthem this is your best bet. No Days Off is an ode to the grind, and although you probably don’t trap out of a Porsche like 2 Chainz, you’ll definitely be able to empathize with the money-hungry attitude TittyBoi has on this new release. The hypey piano melody and crisp 808 kit are courtesy of the Atlanta-based production mastermind Zaytoven, who’s produced instrumentals for every notable artist who’s come out of the city. Cop the free DL, and don’t forget that there’s no days off in the trap game — or the upper-middle-class-suburb game.

Trapavelli Tre – 2 Chainz (Mixtape)

AYYY I’m so late on this post. Anyways, here’s Trapavelli Tre, the third installation of the Trapavelli series, which is a play on the famous Italian philosopher Machiavelli for those of you who care. This is the epitome of what a trap mixtape should be; hard hitting instrumentals from ATL producers, aggressive hooks, and catchy lyrics about making money, getting hoes, and flipping bricks. There’s plenty of gems on here, and I shouldn’t need to introduce Titty Boi to y’all, so cop the free download and show him some love on Soundcloud and Twitter if you’re feelin’ the tape.

Everything I Know – 2 Chainz

I literally can not wait until ‘Trapavelli 3’ drops; Chainz has been hyping up his project all Summer, and it’s been too long since I’ve heard a full-length tape from Titty Boi. Arpeggiated piano chords reverberate throughout the entire track as the ATL bred rapper pays homage to the streets he grew up on. From street smarts to book smarts (he graduated college with a 4.0, just in case you forgot), 2 Chainz goes in about flipping, hustling, and grinding for a paycheck on the hard streets of Atlanta, GA. The resounding instrumental is simple enough to keep the spotlight on the quotable lyricism, but still retains all the “trap anthem” qualities that are expected with a Titty Boi release. Cop the free DL, and be sure to catch up on his past releases in preparation for the latest Trapavelli installment.

A Milli Billi Trilli – 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa

Can you think of two rappers who smoke more than 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa? This collab for Trapavelli 3 (Tre’) is a classic Atlanta trap style track. Heavy bass is highlighted by synth progressions and drum patterns, the notoriously well-paid rappers spit bar after bar about getting high, making money, and scoring ladies. If you’re a Titty Boi fan than you know you can expect nothing less of a turn-up anthem when you hit play on this track, but if you’re more of a Wiz fan you might be surprised by the flow he comes in with on his first verse — he seamlessly unloads a full clip of aggressive bars. Not much longer until this full length project drops, and from the sound of everything Chainz has released so far this project is going to be fire. Enjoy, and be sure to check out his previous releases if you like what you hear.

Gas – 2 Chainz & Skooly

“Gas” has become a colloquial term for really dank weed, so you can probably infer what this track by 2 Chainz & Skooly is about. The bass-heavy banger is off of Skooly’s debut mixtape with 2 Chainz’s label “The Real University”. The Atlanta influenced trap beat is from ATL’s very own London on da track, who’s famous for producing tracks like Tyga’s Hookah and Rich Homie Quan’s Lifestyle. Both rappers go in over the ominous synth and hard-hitting bass, laying down bar after bar of pompous lyrics and weed & women inspired hooks. Cop the free download, check out Skooly’s debut Blacc Jon Gotti mixtape if you want to hear more from him, and share the track via the links below if you’re vibing.

Vado tends to come through with these heavily featured hood anthems, and today I stumbled upon this one which was so graciously given away by We The Best music group. Dollar Bill Kidz produced this strange banger making sure the track had plenty of breakdowns, heavily laid synth, hard bass, and lots of claps. Which each of these artist’s easily makes their own, displaying lyrical prowess that can only be expected from such familiar names in the game. Altogether you get two phenomenal verses from Vado and 2 Chainz, a catchy hook from Chinx Drugz, and one of my favorite verses from 2 Chainz this year. Check it out.
