Progressive R&B is the only way I can think to describe Gallant’s uniquely emotional sound, and even that sounds like a bit of an understatement. His voice can reach unfathomably high notes, but somehow even as he peaks into higher octaves his vocals retain a fine scotch smoothness that goes down oh-so-easily. As he softly breathes out the first verse, the experimental production from renowned LA producer Stint provides the perfect synth-heavy backtracking to compliment the power behind each metaphor. The ambient sound bursts into an ecstasy packed chorus, creating a strong yet classy finale. Although he decided to sell his debut Zebra EP rather than release it for free, Gallant started his career and built his fan base off of free releases, and it’s good to see he’s getting back to his roots and giving us some downloadable content again. Cop it before he decides to monetize it, follow him on twitter, and check out some of his earlier material if you’re new to this talented young artist.
