Zanzibar – Belly & Juicy J

Belly is a relatively new artist for most of us here in the U.S.; he made a few headlines when he released his project Up For Days back in May 2015, but his tape was quickly over shadowed by a summer full of hip-hop drama and hot new album releases.

The last song we heard from him was Money Go, which dropped back in November and featured some vocals from Travis Scott. Since then he’s been off the radar, but out of the blue he released this cleverly titled track with Juicy J. ‘Zanzibar’, as you can probably guess, is a combination of the two words “Zanzibar”– like the country — and “Bars” — like Xanax — so what better artist to feature than the pill-popping strip club veteran from three six mafia?

I can’t say there’s a hidden message underneath the shallow lyrics about turning up and taking a trip to Africa, but I can say that this song is a hard hitting party anthem with an easily memorable hook. Give it a listen and follow Belly on Soundcloud and Twitter if you’re feeling it.

O’s To Oscars – Juicy J (Mixtape)

December 27, 2015

O's To Oscars - Juicy Js
Free Download | O's To Oscars - Juicy J

Juicy J seems like the type of candidate who would never win an Oscar, or receive a nomination for that matter. For one, he’s not an actor, but moreover the high-brow community isn’t very supportive of the strip club god’s music career. However, he did win an Academy Award in 2006 for his single Hard Out Here For a Pimp. With that being said, it shouldn’t surprise you that this project, O’s to Oscars, is full of nothing but booty-shaking and money-tossing anthems.

Production from the hip-hop industries most highly esteemed names, such as Sonny Digital, Lex Luger, and Metro Boomin, keep the BPM around 130-150, which is a comfortable pace for Juicy’s distinct delivery. Although we haven’t heard Juicy do something new lyrically per-say since he was a member of Three 6 Mafia, you can always rely on him to drop a well-produced banger about sipping lean, making it rain, and watching girls bounce to the beat of his music. Despite being 40 years old, the Memphis native still frequents clubs in Atlanta where he’s paid to perform notorious singles for strippers to get naked to. It’s not a hard life, but it’s Juicy’s life, and to keep the culture alive the tenured rap artist released this project hosted by DJ Blak.

In my opinion, Curve That, Up feat. Wiz Khalifa and Project Pat, and I Ain’t Fuckin’ Witcha feat. Logic are the best tracks on the tape, but feel free to skim through it and determine the crown holders for yourself. If you like what you hear, support a legend by throwing Juicy a follow on SC and Twitter.

Blue Dream & Lean 2 – Juicy J (Mixtape)

Download Blue Dream & Lean 2 - Juicy J (Mixtape)

It’s finally here the moment we’ve been waiting for since Juicy’s breakout solo tape in 2011, the second installment to the Blue Dream & Lean series. With the first tape in 2011 Juicy reignited his rap career as well as pave the way for a very prosperous partnership with Wiz & Taylor Gang. Almost four years later Juicy breathes new life into this almost forgotten series in celebration of his return to the throne. This project boasts a star-studded line of engineers which includes Lex Luger, Sonny Digital, Harry Fraud, Drumma Boy, Crazy Mike, & even Juicy J himself. Juicy mixes up the sound of each track flipping from his aggressive southern sound that made him a legend in Three Six Mafia, to a more club-oriented sound that has shown him recent success in the mainstream. All-in-all this is Blue Dream & Lean 2, it’s exactly as ratchet as we expect of Juicy and there is no reason in hell why a fan shouldn’t have this project in their library. So hit that play button, cop the free download, and show some love to Juicy on twitter if you’re feeling this project.

On top of getting ready to set out on his “Pay Attention Tour” as well as getting ready to release his new album Cadillactica, he shook the game earlier this week by dropping a new mixtape See Me On Top 4 almost without warning. While the tape was solid as a whole there’s no denying that this star studded track stands out, and the originality of this drinker’s anthem is what made me feel like I needed to single it out. This subtle southern banger with Juicy’s infamous “Yeah Ho!” ad lib firing off in the background this track is perfect for any sippin’ occasion. The verses from Krizzle and Co. are absolutely deadly, and there are no survivors when these four get done with this song. Hit that play button, check out more free material from K.R.I.T. on soundcloud, and “Welcome to the Drinker’s Club”.

Holy Ghost – Juicy J & Lil Bibby

Juicy J threw this haunting number out to the fans to celebrate the 4th, as well as build hype for his upcoming sophomore album The Hustle Continues. This is the first freebie Juicy’s handed out in a couple months (the last being “Beautiful Ones”) but this was definitely worth the wait. This pulsating, ghoulish instrumental provides Juicy and Chitown up-and-comer Lil Bibby plenty of room to do their thing. Bibby rips this beat apart for a verse, but when Juicy goes into his second verse you would swear he was possessed. Check this out, stay trippy, and watch out for Juicy’s new album. As well as the free releases which are sure to come.

28 Grams – Wiz Khalifa (Mixtape)

May 26, 2014

Free Download 28 Grams - Wiz Khalifa (Mixtape)

If you’ve ever taken a culinary class, or dealt/bought drugs, you should know there’s 28 grams in an ounce. After a short delay from Wiz’s arrest last weekend, he decided to drop his 28-track project right after he got out of jail (he got out in under 2 hours and was only charged with POM). If you remember his last album ONIFC than you probably remember how disappointing it was, some people went as far to say he fell off, but the haters are nowhere to be found this morning. No more ambient/artistic beats, just some hard hitting boom bap production from ID Labs, 808 Mafia, Sonny Digital, and a bunch of other big names. His flows are a hundred times better too, you can tell he’s in his comfort zone; his delivery is stronger, his lyricism is less constrained, and despite the somewhat excessive use of auto-tune he sounds real. This tape is packed with trap songs, stripper anthems, and enough stoner tracks for you to box your entire house to. If I had to pick 5, I’d say Aw Shit, Incense, Up Down feat. Berner, Banger feat. Ty Dolla $ign, and The Last. Burn a couple spliffs for Memorial Day and get fill your phone with some Trap Wiz.

Beautiful Ones – Juicy J

While the slang term “Thot” (which stands for “that hoe over there”) originated in Chi-town, it has spread like wild fire in the past few months over social media and has even begun to work it’s way into the main stream rap game. Juicy decides to adopt the word in his newest free release “Beautiful Ones” produced by Lil Awree, in which he describes in depth his definition of the term:

“Take a look at her bank account, shawty ain’t got a dime. She only get outta bed so she can twerk on Vine.
Time to get some money baby, don’t care if you popular. She think she a model cause she got 3,000 followers.”

Although this release probably won’t find it’s way onto an official Juicy project, he is currently grinding away on his newest album The Hustle Continues which is due out sometime this year. Cop this free track from the Taylor Gang affiliate, make sure to watch out for any more spontaneous releases, and most importantly stay trippy mayne.

Hopefully most of you have heard Mike Will’s new single 23 by now. But you definitely haven’t heard it like this. Caked Up’s remix has a little bit of everything: handclaps, bubblegum pops, glass shattering, musical-sounding sirens, a little DnB, and all around crazy energy. Make sure to listen on high quality headphones or speakers so you can handle all the dynamic aspects of this track. Visit Caked Up’s soundcloud if you’re looking for more new takes on your favorite Top 40 hits. Wouldn’t hurt to show them some love on Facebook too as a thank you for the free download.

It’s only a couple weeks before Juicy’s “Stay Trippy” drops, and he is still supplying these dope free tracks for the fans to cop. “Ain’t No Comin Down” is a song that most will be familiar with, so it doesn’t need to much of an introduction. T.I. is featured on this remix and like always, Tip doesn’t disappoint. Just a newer rendition of an older Juicy track to help ya’ll stay trippy until the album finds its way into stores.

New Jet City – Curren$y (Mixtape)

Geez, this is going to be blasting in the whip for a good couple of weeks. Just look at who goes in on this tape, Trinidad, Juicy, Wiz, French Montana, Jadakiss, Rick Ross.. the list goes on. Give this tape a listen. Although Curren$y seems to have lost a bit of his dope lyricism on this tape, he brings it back by flowing over some really ill beats. Enjoy.
