KISS 3 – K Camp (Mixtape)

In September K Camp debuted his first studio album with Interscope Records, Only Way Is Up, but to keep to tradition and please his fans, K ended the year with the third installation of his coveted mixtape series ‘K.I.S.S.’ (Keep It Slum, Stupid). Packed with R&B anthems and dripping with ATL production, it’s clear that this Milwaukee native spent more time around bandos and benjis in Georgia than whatever Wisconsin’s “slums” had to offer (cheese?).

Although the project isn’t meant for high-brow audiences, I think even the whitest of listeners will be feeling the unique soundscape that Big Fruit and Bobby Kritical created; vibey melodies and intricate drum arrangements are laid over smooth bass lines and sensual leads to give the tape a distinctive slumliness/sexiness. The lyrics cover a wide range of topics, but the most prominent subject from track to track is K. Camp’s love for his homies, women, and fans. Personally, I was feeling WCW, Homie, and 2 Crazy more than anything else. Give it a listen and be sure to show K. Camp some love on Twitter and Soundcloud if you cop the project. Enjoy.

You Welcome – K Camp (Mixtape)

KCAMP dropped his debut album Only Way Is Up back in September, and it wasn’t great — all in all I think it sold just over 10,000 copies and capped off at #20 on the hip-hop charts. That being said, Slum Season is far from over; this is the first of three forthcoming projects from K Camp and his team of producers, rappers, and videographers. ‘You Welcome’ abides by the classic hip-hop mixtape formula: recycled production from familiar songs topped with freestyle-esque flows. There isn’t really a direction for the project, but every song touches on a different aspect of Camp’s grind; whether it’s buckling down with the team in the trap house or turning up in the club on payday, I guarantee you’ll find something you can empathize with on this project. The ATL rapper has relocated to the suburbs (Marietta, GA) since his come up,  but it doesn’t seem like the change in scenery has affected his ability to make hood anthems. A few tracks I was feeling were his rendition of Drake’s 100, Future’s WYA, DON’T, and the outro Comfortable featuring 50 Cent and Akon. Enjoy, there’s no reason you shouldn’t cop this free project if you’re a hip-hop fan — indulge yourself in some good music and hear K Camp kill some top 40 production. If you like what you hear be sure to throw K Camp a follow on Twitter and Soundcloud.

One Way – K Camp (Mixtape)

January 19, 2015

Free Download | One Way - K Camp (Full Mixtape)

We heard from K Camp a bit last week when Eazy decided to release “I Might”, but now the Atlanta emcee graces the internet with a 10 track project titled One Way. While we all know K Camp for his breakout club/radio hits like “Cut Her Off” and “Money Baby”, but I’ve realized he likes to show off a soft-er (well for an Atlanta emcee anyways) side when he releases these mixes. Point is you still get your bangers. You just also get a few tracks the ladies won’t feel inclined to roll their eyes too. While this project was chiefly engineered by frequent collaborator Big Fruit, other names on the tape include TEAUXNY, AP, Dun Deal, Bobby Kritical, OG Parker, Deko, & DJ Spinz. Besides one hot appearance from Boosie Badazz, this tape is all Camp doin’ his thing. Good news for those of you who like to hear this ATLien talk his shit. Hit that play button, cop the entire tape for free, and make sure to show K Camp some love via twitter if you aren’t on that train already.

I Might – G-Eazy, P-Lo, & K Camp

January 4, 2015

Download I Might - G-Eazy, P-Lo, & K Camp

G-Eazy is infamous for spitting quotable lyrics, but his entire verse on this Cal-A produced instrumental is packed with witty bars. The features are perfect, K Camp is a fan-favorite here on UH, and P-Lo kills the hook. The slow, ominous, and overall crisp beat is the perfect pace for each of these artists to meticulously enunciate their delivery, and they seem to have broken out some great material for this single. Although the meaning is shallow, this is track is the epitome of a turn up anthem; something you can scream profane and conceded refrains to when you’re drunk. Enjoy, and be sure to keep up with G-Eazy on tour and on twitter.

SlumLords (Mixtape) – K Camp

June 13, 2014

Free Download | SlumLords (Mixtape) - K Camp

K Camp decided to drop off a new project teamed up with some artists you might not have heard of, as well as (in my opinion) some of the most underrated lyricists in the game to bring you the first official SlumLords project. While a lot of the production comes from Big Fruit a big player in Tha Joker’s camp, we also see production from the likes of Bobby Kritical, Will A Fool, Christian Louxx, Kato, and a few others. This project isn’t really a tape as much as it is a compilation of tracks that are intended to get you introduced to K Camp’s new crew. With the like of Tha Joker, Sy Ari Da Kid, and K Camp mixed with the new voices of Marissa, Damar Jackson, & Dan Diego (not to mention the features from Yo Gotti, Big Fruit, & Wale) this definitely a must hear of 2014. Hit that play button, download this tape, and see just how much your feeling the SlumLords.
