Carpe Diem is latin for “Seize The Day” a fitting name for 19 year old Toronto native K. Seize’s mixtape which he was kind enough to share with the UniversityHype staff. The 16 track tape comes with production from fellow Toronto producer Rook, and the two say that with all the up-and-coming acts in Toronto right now they were determined to produce a different sound that ended up using a variety of indie samples. Seize who considers this tape his reintroduction into the game, told us that the tracks “Fallen”, “Rich”, and “When I’m Small” are the tracks that best capture the picture they want to paint through their music. Trust me, once you listen you’ll understand why. While the tape comes with two pretty dope features from two fellow Canadian natives Focuz and Young Stitch, this tape is pretty much all Seize. He isn’t afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and leave everything in the booth, and while I thought the first couple tracks were just okay the tape just gets more and more enticing after “Diamond In The Rough”. If you respect the hard work and grind of these young artists make sure to follow K. Seize and Rook on twitter, and check Seize’s soundcloudto get familiar because you’ll probably be seeing more of him very soon.
