If you were a fan of Kasum’s Move Along remix that I posted back in November, you’re gonna be all over his latest remix of the 2004 hit Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard. I haven’t heard many other DJs and producers remixing pop-punk songs, so when I pressed play on this track, the Yellowcard-EDM combo struck me as a little odd. But once that drop hit at 0:56 I was blown away by Ryan Key’s powerful vocals paired against that hard-hitting synth. The song only gets better from there with the implementation of DnB and vocal breakdowns over the echoing piano. Kasum struck gold using the power of nostalgia and uplifting riffs in this reworked classic. Like Kasum’s Facebook page for the free download and be sure to check out his other music too.

All right we got a guilty pleasure on our hands here. Maybe you loved this original or maybe you thought it got way overplayed. Whatever your thoughts, put on those headphones and give Kasum’s remix a listen, because this one’s a banger for sure. Kasum uses a nice blend of percussives and synths, and those vocal reverbs are on point too. The buildups and drops are huge, hitting you over and over again. Kasum is a sophomore at Boston University, and his soundcloud profile displays a nice portfolio of mashups and remixes.
