If you’re familiar with Marty Grimes, which you should be by now, than you know he kills up-beat bass-heavy instrumentals like this one from Syksense (who recently co-produced Drake’s 6 God and a track off Travi$ Scott’s Days Before Rodeo). The production features trumpet samples that sound off over a deep grumbling bass line, which is the perfect platform for Marty to get things started with. He continues developing his sound with arrogant verses, flawless delivery, and competitive hooks that are equal parts catchy and unique. He brings in his home-town friend to spit a verse consistent with his style, and Raj seemingly lives up to the standard that Marty set for the track. Although Marty’s been scheming on the low, we can guarantee you that this isn’t the last you’ll hear from him in 2014. Up is the only direction this young MC knows, and the more material we hear from him the more confident we are that he’s going to pop-off soon. Cop the free download, show Marty some love by following him on twitter, and be sure to check out his first project Through The Smoke if you haven’t already.
