Lost Legend – SABA (Drake & The Weeknd Cover)

Free Download | Lost Legend - SABA (Drake & The Weeknd Cover)

SABA is a female vocalist hailing from Silver Spring, Maryland — and if you’ve never heard of her or that city it’s fine; this is the first song she’s put out on her barren Soundcloud page, and the city has the population of a college campus. That being said, prepare to be blown away. She absolutely nailed this cover/melody of Drake’s Legend and The Weeknd’s Earned It. Elegantly unveiling her distinct, venereal voice as she recites the hubristic R&B-stars’ lyrics, it shouldn’t be hard to see why this track made it onto our site, especially with this deep, mellow production from Mikeyy of 94sGold. Give it a listen and throw SABA a follow on Twitter if you’re feeling this.

The Hills – The Weeknd (RL Grime Remix)

For me to like a remix, it needs to be distinctly different from the original, and it needs to stand out from the plethora of other renditions. Andrew Luce’s remix of this song was incredible, so my bar was set pretty high when I hit play on this new RL Grime remix. I should’ve known better — this tenured electronic producer from LA never ceases to create innovative, mind-blowing house arrangements. The resounding synths and the tsunami like build ups drop you into a free fall of convoluted electronic instruments, which is exactly what you need when you’re in grind mode, party mode, or anything inbetween. Check it out, cop the free download, and show RL Grime some love on Twitter and Soundcloud.

The Hills – The Weeknd (Andrew Luce)

the hills the weeknd andrew luce

Free Download | The Hills - The Weeknd (Andrew Luce Remix)

When we met up with Andrew Luce last week outside of San Francisco, we got our first taste of this track, which is supposedly the end to the remixing-phase of his career. As he starts to release more original content, produce for artists, and pursue the creation of his own debut project, I couldn’t think of a better way to close this chapter in his life than releasing his most intricate and cohesive sounding remix to date. Complex percussion, flawless transitions, and some of the heaviest drops I’ve ever heard are all present in this rendition of The Weeknd’s latest single. His sampling and vocal distortions pair perfectly with the heavy bass, resounding high-hats, and library of different snares, but my favorite part of this track has to be the outro, something about it just leaves you with this organic vibe after the wall of electronic instruments. It leaves you craving for the next track, which I think was exactly the note he wanted to end on. Although this marks the end of Andrew’s remixing series, I guarantee you he’s going to keep the momentum going over the next few months with some of the best original content he’s ever released. Cop the free download, show him some love on twitter and soundcloud, and be sure to check out all of his free material we’ve posted and stay tuned for the exclusive interview we got with him dropping next week.

Up For Days – Belly (Mixtape)

Free Download | Up For Days - Belly (Mixtape)

From Palestine to Canada, Belly has built a career for himself in Ontraio that’s yet to receive proper recognition in the States. Up For Days, however, is built to change that trend. With features from several notorious artists — The Weeknd, French Montana, & Travi$ Scott — it’s no wonder why this tape has been taking over the airwaves these past few weeks. As an affiliate of the label XO, branding is a priority, and in Belly’s own words, this project isn’t just another chapter in his career “it’s a completely new book”. Fat bass, ambient vibes, and hard-hitting quality production is consistent throughout the entire mixtape. Although every track is in the hip-hop realm, versatility is still a prominent characteristic as he flexes his ability to sing, rap, and write lyrics that touch on a wide spectrum of topics. If you’re looking for some highlights, my favorites were Might Not (feat. The Weeknd), Masion, and Who Am I. This is an artist you need to keep your eye on; not only is he talented, but he’s also extremely connected and motivated to leave his mark on the industry. He’s not going away anytime soon, so cop the free download, follow him on soundcloud and twitter, and bump this tape while it’s still hot.

Earned It – The Weeknd (Rad Cat Remix)

March 8, 2015

Download Earned It - The Weeknd (Rad Cat Remix)

As you probably already know, the 50 Shades of Gray movie came out last weekend. Just skimming below the line where society deems films soft-core porn, their soundtrack selection didn’t take much thought; no artist illustrates explicitly sexual scenes better than The Weeknd. Last month we shared Rad Cat’s remix of Cassie’s Me & U, and I’m happy to be sharing yet another one of his wavy R&B renditions. The bouncy rhythm is enticing, but what really makes his work so appealing to me is the way he uses vocal samples to meld the intense drops and break downs into one coherent stream of sensual vibes. Cop the free download, check out some more of his free material on soundcloud, and follow him on twitter if you like what you hear.

Often – The Weeknd (Kygo Remix)

Free Download | Often - The Weeknd (Kygo Remix)

Could this song really get any more erotic? I posted The Weeknd’s summer lovin’ anthem Often just over a month ago, and if you haven’t heard it yet you’re missing out on more than just free music; you’re missing out on countless vocal-induced orgasms. For the rest of you, Kygo reworked Abel’s summer hit to give it an invigorating and refreshing new sound. Unlike the production we’re used to hearing from him, he abstains from the tropical vibes and instead plays off the dark/sexy undertones by layering vocal samples, and developing intricate transitions over even more elaborate drum loops. Is it great? Yes. Is it better than the original? That’s for you to decide. Regardless, show this man some love on twitter, he just announced some new tour dates on his page.

The Weeknd is back with a new single in support of his tour with Jhene Aiko and Schoolboy Q. It’s depressing and sexy as ever, that perfect combination that Abel manages to work out all too well. You’ll hear the familiar lines about the same girls with different faces but hear Abel’s pained falsetto laid down across some way ambient, chilled-out production. Although there’s not much variety in the melody, the delicate snaps and synthy breakdowns will have you melting into a puddle by the time you’re done. Let’s just say this is one to smash to for sure. Add this to your Bedtime Jams playlist and thank me later.

Once again Abel is laying angelic XXX vocals over a fat ambient beat, following up the huge success of his Or Nah Remix that dropped back in February. The lyrics stay filthy, his delivery is still impeccable, and the XO crafted instrumental is literally built around his voice. If you make pussies rain often, or if your pussy rains often, you’re welcome. For the rest of you, I’m sorry, but at least you can still cop the free download and hear to all the great things you’re missing out on. If you need some more sensual Weeknd music check out the rest of his ish on the site, follow him on twitter if you’re into that, and keep it wet this weeknd.

Damn this knocks hard, stwo is a king at revamping tracks, and this is no exception. He adds some ominous synth and various other instruments/sound effects, which combines with the chopped and screwed sample to make this hot and heavy remix. Check out the other free material we’ve posted by stwo, and if you like what you hear be sure to give him a follow on twitter too.

If your bed’s not rocking to this tonight you need to change something in your life. The Weeknd drops a filthy verse over Ty and Wiz’s single Or Nah, a track that was already pretty heated. Abel’s just killing these remixes, go listen to his version of Drunk In Love if you haven’t already. Enjoy.
