Cabin Fever 3 – Wiz Khalifa (Mixtape)

Everyone and their mom has heard of Wiz Khalifa’s Cabin Fever mixtape series. If you aren’t familiar, save yourself the embarrassment and go stream/download the last Cabin Fever project. It’s been almost three years since Wiz added another installment to this succession, and it’s been the most productive, trivial, and fruitful 3 years in Wiz’s career to date. So, after a long break, this project is Mr. Cap getting back to his Pittsburgh roots.

Cabin Fever mixtapes have notoriously featured some of the hardest hitting producers in the game, and with Sonny Digital on the beat for the majority of the songs on this project, you already know you’re about to have your eardrums knocked around. Lyrically, this isn’t anything out of the box; it’s a weed tape through and through, meant solely for roll ups and smoke outs. Clearly this isn’t going to get a ton of radio play — every song is more explicit than the last — but DJ’s everywhere are going to be spinning anthems like Move On feat Kevin Gates, Foreign Bitches feat. Chevy Woods, and Finish Line feat. Project Pat. Despite this being the product of 3 years of monumental success, and the third installment in a line of historically well-respected projects, this is by far the weakest Cabin Fever tape from Wiz to date. It’s only 11 tracks long, the features are weak, and the production honestly outperforms Wiz on every single track. That’s my opinion, but if you like what you hear than you should definitely throw Wiz a follow on Twitter and Soundcloud.

Just Because – Wiz Khalifa

I was excited, but not surprised to see that Wiz dropped another free track; it’s not uncommon for this multi-millionaire icon to drop free material without any notice. Unlike his most recent release Outsiders, ‘Just Because’ starts off with a spacey beat from the stoner-production legend Harry Fraud, which samples some female vocals that I couldn’t really make out, but regardless Wiz absolutely kills the beat. His lyrics talks about how people treat him now compared to how they treated him before his success, which anyone who’s come into some sort of fortune can relate to. However, I feel like the song fell short of its potential when the sole 45-second verse from Wiz is over and the beat played out the remaining two minutes… Maybe it’s meant to invite features and remixes, but overall I think this song could have been better. It still bumps though, and we’d be insane not to share the latest Wiz x Harry Fraud release, so definitely cop the free download. If for what ever reason you are not already following Wiz Khalifa on Soundcloud and Twitter you should do that right now.

Outsiders – Wiz Khalifa

Outsiders - Wiz Khalifa

Wiz never lets too much time pass before he drops new material, so today he hit us with this gem. Outsiders is a Big Jerm produced banger; a crazy string arrangement, steady yet hard-hitting percussion, and a plethora of hazy samples attribute to the creation of a classic stoner sound, which is a habitat perfect for Wiz Khalifa to unleash a few bars over. The young MC clearly made this song to remind everyone of who he is and what he’s about: the squad, the money, and the herb — in that order. It won’t be your favorite track from Wiz this year, but it should definitely make it onto your repertoire. Cop the free download if this meets your standards, and if you’re not already following Wiz on Twitter and Soundcloud I don’t know what you’re doing.

No Social Media – Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg

When you’re as big as Wiz and Snoop, the last thing you need is a girl live-tweeting every thing you do. The press is one thing to worry about, but nowadays a slut with wifi is a rappers worst nightmare. Production is courtesy of the one and only ID Labs, who created an ominous two chord progression for the two all-star rappers to spit over. Although the lyricism is hubristic and shallow, the goal was clearly to make a banger, and they definitely succeeded. Give it a listen and cop the free DL if you like it.

It’s Friday and it’s been a long first week back at school. Luckily, we have the perfect groove to start your weekend off right. New to the UH collection, we’re happy to introduce Ryan Bronson. Bronson is from the small town of Waverly, New York but is chasing big things in the music game. Having dropped out of school to pursue music full-time, we know Bronson is a dedicated musician and we respect that kind of enthusiasm. After opening for Wiz Khalifa this past June at Tag’s Summer Stage, the “hip-hop pop” artist hit us with his new track ‘Come Closer.’ This song opens with wavy guitar riffs and puts you in a feel good state of mind. And featuring country artist Tim Wood, Ryan Bronson brings a unique edge to hip-hop. With lyrics like “we could go hard all night, dance it up while you’re singing in the moonlight ” we know this jam was made for celebrating the good times. So grab the download above and be sure to throw it on the back-to-school party playlist. Then give a follow to Ryan Bronson on Soundcloud and Twitter to show some support!

A Milli Billi Trilli – 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa

Free Download | A Milli Billi Trilli - 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa

Can you think of two rappers who smoke more than 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa? This collab for Trapavelli 3 (Tre’) is a classic Atlanta trap style track. Heavy bass is highlighted by synth progressions and drum patterns, the notoriously well-paid rappers spit bar after bar about getting high, making money, and scoring ladies. If you’re a Titty Boi fan than you know you can expect nothing less of a turn-up anthem when you hit play on this track, but if you’re more of a Wiz fan you might be surprised by the flow he comes in with on his first verse — he seamlessly unloads a full clip of aggressive bars. Not much longer until this full length project drops, and from the sound of everything Chainz has released so far this project is going to be fire. Enjoy, and be sure to check out his previous releases if you like what you hear.

Lit – Wiz Khalifa

Wiz is just dropping tracks like it’s nothing lately, and fans sure as hell aren’t complaining. These don’t sound like studio album releases (thank god), but the relaxed weed rap style resonates “Old Wiz” vibes that everyone’s been yearning for. Although we still haven’t heard anything new about his free project collab with Curren$y, he’s kept the content coming consistently while still retaining a high level of quality. Lit is all about smoking with the hottest of girls and smoking the dankest of dank — another day in the life of Wiz, with lyricism that’s pleasing but not surprising. Check it out and cop the download if you like what you hear.

No Permission – Wiz Khalifa

May 17, 2015

Free Download | No Permission - Wiz Khalifa

Wiz doesn’t just share his day-to-day life with his fans via his youtube series DayToday, but his lyricism in tracks like this provides the imagery you need to get a peek into his hazy lifestyle. No Permission is centered around his favorite topic of choice, Mary Jane, and a dream girl that’s down to smoke, listen, and do shit without permission. The spacey slow jam instrumental from Taylor Gang’s Big Jerm is form fitting to Wiz, as you might expect; the pace is catered to his style of flow, while the light saxophone in the backdrop gives the track an extra dose of sensuality. Enjoy.

Good For Us – Wiz Khalifa

May 15, 2015

Free Download | Download Good For Us - Wiz Khalifa

You’ll more than likely recognize that Wiz is flowing on top of an old 1980’s Marvin Gaye beat, Sexual Healing to be precise. Hitting the studio while on tour in New York, Wiz recorded this gem and drops a few intimate bars over this sensual instrumental. The groovy vibe is unique, but the Taylor Gang president flows across the funky guitar flawlessly, and his fast-paced weed rap is always a crowd pleaser. No questions here, there’s a reason Wiz is still topping the charts — he’s just that good at what he does.

Uber Driver – Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y

April 1, 2015

Download Uber Driver - Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y

Yes, dreams do come true; Wiz and Curren$y are collaborating on a project titled ‘2009’, and releasing it at no cost to the fans. What happens when you put two of the world’s most renowned pot-smokers on a track together? Well, if you remember Curren$y’s project New Jet City than you already have an idea of how great these two artists’ chemistry is. The slow, steady, bass-heavy instrumental from Sledgren provides a fittingly hazy backtrack for these two renowned artists; mellow vocal samples, elegant keyboard rifts, and twangy strings are reminiscent of something you’d hear on Kush & OJ (where the two rappers first collabed in 2010) or just about any Jet Life project. Unlike recent Wiz releases, his lyricism, delivery, and all around sound on this track showcases that he still retains the authentic rap style that fans have been yearning for. It might be audacious for me to say this, but I think Curren$y brings out the best side of Wiz Khalifa, the auto-tune free smoker anthems that still flex vivid imagery and creativity. Check it out and stay on the lookout for ‘2009’, supposedly dropping right in time for Summer 2015.
